Escola Básica Homero Serpa is a school in Lisbon. The choice of school is one of the decisive factors for families with children who move to Portugal. Parents first of all pay attention to the prestige of the school, the cost and the language of instruction.
School education in Portugal consists of three stages:
– preparatory – for kids from 4 to 5 years;
– basic – for children from 6 to 15 years;
– high school – for students from 15 to 17 years old.
The administration of Portuguese schools controls attendance. It will not be possible to skip even one lesson without a good reason. Absence for more than five days is allowed only due to illness. If a student fails to provide a doctor’s note, they may be expelled.
