Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML) is a music school located in Benfica, Lisbon. Established in 1970, it provides students from across the world with the opportunity to develop their musical talent and explore their passion for music. It offers courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as specialized master’s classes in areas such as Jazz, Classical Music Performance, Composition, Musical Production and Teaching.
The institute consists of a library full of books related to music performance and theory; recording studios with the latest technology; practice rooms available on a 24-hour basis; concert halls for orchestral performances; and ensemble labs for chamber music rehearsals. Students have access to regular lectures from renowned musicians from national and international renown. ESML provides its students with numerous opportunities to take part in competitions, workshops, conferences and professional development activities throughout the year. In addition to its academic curriculum, ESML also offers extra-curricular activities such as choir groups, theatre pieces or musical collaborations with local artists. All of these are aimed at providing students with an overall learning experience that complements their studies at the school
