A super cool place to get a taste of the local cuisine without paying a fortune. This is one of the “home cooking” restaurants where the business is family-owned and operated for visitors. Very cheap homemade wine, quite decent. The tables are few, crowded, so sometimes you have to stand at the entrance for 10-20 minutes waiting for a free table, but it is worth it. Visitors are mostly locals, there are not many foreigners. The staff speaks normal English, is friendly and competent. The best cafe in Lisbon in terms of price/quality. The menu is short and straightforward; you can choose meat or fish. Any choice is just as good. The grill is done to perfection with a nice assortment of condiments. And you’ll be even more surprised when you pick up the check and find out that you fed an entire family for less than 25 euros.
